Our customers always comment on how much character our building has. It squeaks and creaks and can be downright spooky at times. It has quite a history. The Greer brothers built it in 1937 for Belk department store. Belk was a staple of downtown Boone for the next thirty years. We still have customers who come in and can remember shopping with their mothers when it was Belk. After Belk moved to the Boone Mall in 1967, the building housed a variety of stores including a Spaenaur's.
It became Boone Antique Mall in 1984 and has been filled with antiques ever since. In 2004, our fearless leader, Jill Reeves, took over and it became Appalachian Antique Mall. We believe that antiquing can be interesting and fun. Everything in our store has a history; even the building itself reflects its 1937 origins.
We try to alter the building as little as possible. The creaky wood floors and awful avocado green carpet just add to the charm. Our building has character and we like it that way. What better place to sell antiques than out of an antique building?

We love antiques!
We are a 15,600 sq ft antique mall in downtown Boone, NC. There are three floors with over 50 dealers with all sorts of amazing things. From Roseville to railroad lanterns...we have it all!
We are starting this blog because we believe that one should never stop learning. We are constantly learning all sorts of fun things about the history of various antiques, how to clean and maintain them, how to spot reproductions, etc. We want a forum to pass this information on to other antique lovers. So stay tuned and please feel free to give us feedback and share your knowledge with us!
